OK I'm just going to start off saying that every computer is different and what may work for some people may not work for others. I'm going to give a couple of different methods that may allow you to host.
METHOD 1: OK, This is what i do to host. It is very easy and simple, First you must turn off windows firewall, Located in the control panel section under my computer. You can also click allow a program through windows firewall. There should be a list of programs just check the box next to warcraft. or you can type in the port for warcraft (6112). For some reason i have to have to let warcraft, the port, and have windows firewall off to be able to host (doesn't make sense but it works). You should be able to host now but if you still can't try a different method.
If this works and you can host but all of a sudden after a while you can't host again. Just exit out of bnet (Sometimes even the warcraft program all together) turn on your windows firewall then turn it off again. Then run warcraft again and you should be able to host.
METHOD 2:by prepare-2-loseOK, then there is simple advice I can give you, test it by doing all of the following, then if it works take one step away and test it again, until you get down to only 1 or 2 steps so you don't completely shut down the defense system of your computer.... :
1. Shut off the Windows Firewall (this is the ONLY problem for A LOT of people)
2. Open your firewall (ex. Mcafee) and disable that, or open port 6112 if you know how to do that (they do the same thing)
3. Unblock Warcraft III in windows/Mcafee.
Here are more steps if you have a router and don't really realize it these won't work if you don't have a router this particular tutorial is if you have a LINKSYS ROUTER, most common type of router. (Trendnet is another fairly common router that you may have. If so most of these steps will be different.) And for all the noobs who don't know what a router is it's the little box thing that the internet goes through before it goes to your computer. Some people may not have a router.
May be different with vista, Obviously much much different with mac.
OK follow every step exactly!
1.click start on windows toolbar
2.then click run (may be under accessories.
3.type cmd in box
4.then type ipconfig in that box and press enter now there is a line that says default gateway
5.open up your browser ( INTERNET explorer, firefox or something ) and type that default gateway into the address box in your browser ( minimize that command prompt box ) it should pop up with a box that says it needs your user name and password (maybe not)
6.type it in ( if you don't know it ask a parent or something what it might be default is admin, admin ) now it should show up with like a linksys page.
7.at the top there is security, click on it then it should show firewall with a box that says enable and one with disable
8. click the disable one (not everyone needs this disabled, but some do)
9.now one more thing click on applications and gaming
10.OK in the application line put whatever you want like warcraft 3 or whatever, then in the start line put 6112, and in the end line put 6112
11.make protocol both
12.OK now unminimize that command prompt box, there is a line that says ip address
13. put the numbers after the last box( like if it was 145.423.1.79 you would put 79 into it ) into the ip address spot on the linksys page
15.now check enable, At the bottom of that page there should be a box that says save settings CLICK IT
16. now you can exit out of it all, o yeah one more thing go into warcraft 3 and click options, then click gameplay, and there should be a game port section, make sure it says 6112 in it ( it is default that it would but just in case ), OK now you should be able to host !
*Note you should not have to do this every time, unless you're ip changes (ex. you unplug you're router or something)*

~With a D-Link Router~
USE THE STEPS BELOW TO SETUP A STATIC IP IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE.
1. always check your firewall before u go and try this because that the problem with most computers.
2. Go to the start menu and click the run button.
3. Type in the command box ipconfig /all
4. I want you to write down the ip address, subnet mask, the 2 gateways, dhcp server and dns server.
5. k now go to your control panel. Now click the button called internet options. you may not know which one your using (if u have multiple ones) to test this simply disconnect one and see if your browser works. click the one you use now.
6. click the advanced button on the bottom of the window. you will see a bunch of different clients in the middle. click internet protocol. hit properties now.
7. 2 choices- obtain ip address automatically or use following ip address. if its on use the following ip address u got a staic ip. if not then fill in the blank when u click use the following ip address.
Thats the end of the static ip------------------------
8. once u have filled in all of the information i want you to open a browser. Now put your ip address in the address bar ( the bar u type websites in also the default is 192.168.0.1 if yours is not working). Now go to advanced and you must fill in all of this
WarcraftIII1
your static ip
then bolth here
6112
6112
then click always under the schedule. Do this for 6112-6119 but change the 1 behind the wc3 to the number of the one ur on like
6112-is 1
6113- is 2
6114- is 3
and so on. also change the port to a number high till u get to 6119.(duh)
This is how i host on a d link router i also suggest you go to portforward.com this will help with any other router and also helps u to setup a static ip if you don't understand me
METHOD 4: Also if you have a router. Go to www.portforward.com/ and follow the instructions. Basically just choose you're router from a list of router's and follow some basic steps and this should also work.
