Here is a mining tutorial for World of Warcraft.
Mining Tutorial
This tutorial is a Brief overview on where to level your mining profession.
If you are below level 50 (approximately) then mine in Thousand Needles. Follow the path drawn below for the best results that I have found. I suggest not trying to level mining or get much gold from mining until after you get your first mount at level 40. Getting the mount makes the process much faster and you will be strong enough to fight of most of the creeps in Thousand Needles.
Personally, I had a fairly high level in mining when I reached level 40 just because I mined copper and stuff EVERY time I saw it while I was questing and leveling. I suggest you do the same.
Once you get above level 50 you are just about strong enough to mine Thorium in Winterspring, however it is probably smarter to level to 60 first. While in Winterspring there are certain paths you can take depending on your level that are showed below. Also, most of the Thorium you find here is Rich so make sure you can mine it before going Requires Mining (275). Small Thorium Vein = Requires Mining (245). Blasted Lands is probably the best place for mining the small ones until you can mine the rich ones. Just go into the mines next to Nethergarde Keep.
Easy:
Medium:
Hard-Technique: For this one, what I do is get on my epic mount do what is shown in the picture, then stay down there in a safe spot, log off and play a bg with one of my other characters, then log back on and the veins are back ;D
After getting above level 60 go into Hellfire Peninsula and mine Fel Iron a ton! It might not be worth as much as Thorium on the Auction House, but it is definitely worth mining because of all the extra drops like gems and everything. To mine this just go around the entire outside border of Hellfire. Once you get past Fel Iron you are on your own!
