ok, we have a lot of people in the clan now and a good amount of people in the forums... and now I'm thinking about contests...
There are a few things we need to figure out before we make any Contests.
Rewards:
What kind of rewards can we use for contests?
For instance if it is a mapmaking compition and I won it... what would I get?...
I really have no idea what rewards there would be
Hosts:
Who can host (start) a contest?
That person would be in charge of judging, rewards, and anything else that comes with it.
I was thinking that mabey everyone can host a contest, but it has to go through the administrators first. (obviously, because in order for it to happen it will be on the front page of the website and only we can get to that)
Judging:
Who would judge the contests?
Would the Host choose who he wants to judge or would it be the same administrators every time?
I think it should be judged by about 4-5 people on a voting basis.
The 4-5 people would be 4 administrators (im including moderators and small moderators) and the Host, implying that the host is not an administrator.
Points:
How would the Contests be judged?
Would there be a pre-set rubric for each type of contest there can be or would the Host make his/her own point system?
I think that there should be a pre-set one that can be altered depending on the rules of the contest.
Kinds of Contests:
What type of Contests can someone make?
Would we limit the types of contests to certain kinds or would we say different kinds and let the host choose any kind even if it isn't on the list (Going through an administrator)?
I think we should tell all the kinds of contests that we want to allow and then allow them to give more suggestions to put on the list.
Eligibility:
Who can enter a Contest?
Would anyone on Warcraft III be able to enter a contest or does he/she have to be in someway associated with The Immortal Bros(clan, forums, group)? Or should the Host of the contest be able to decide that?
I think that they have to be somehow associated with The Immortal Bros, but that doesn't mean to tell someone no. I think that if someone not associated with us wants to be in the contest they should be prompted to go register on the forums then come back to join the contest.
Winners:
How do we decide who wins a contest?
Would it be the top 3 people that the judges choose or top 1 or should there be another method to choose with the judges(a poll on the forums for instance)?
I think it should be purely the judges decision as to who the winner(s) is/are. Although there should be things helping the judges like a poll on the forums or other Warcraft III players. Because I know if someone saw an entry by a friend they would give them a few extra points, so the second opinons of people out of The Immortal Bros would be good.
Entrys:
What would we do with all the entrys to a contest, winners or not?
Would we make a new page on the website for each contest and have all the entrys on that page, best to worst? Or would we just make a page labeled Contests and place the winning entrys there and delete all the losing ones? Or should we just delete them all after the contest is over?
I think we should make individual pages on the website for each contest, but once we reach like 10 pages with contests we make a new website thats just for completed contests and we would put a link to that site on the main one.
Ok, I don't think I missed much... I spent like 35 minutes writing this post.... I would like to have at least one contest started before summer ends, because summer is when people have the most time.....
Incase you didn't realize while reading this.... Italicized words mean they are my opinion, please tell me your own.
g00fy was actually talking to me about a Really smal mapmaking contest that he kinda wanted to Host, which is what sparked the idea to make this post.
